Your First Appointment

Your First Appointment

At your consultation you will have an ultrasound evaluation. Your Olive Fertility doctor will go over the results of your tests and ultra sound and discuss your goals and treatment options.

Meeting Your Doctor

At your consultation, you will have an ultrasound evaluation. Your Olive doctor will then discuss your goals, review the results of your tests including your ultrasound and, based on those results, estimate your chances of a future pregnancy with egg freezing.

Transvaginal Ultrasound

Your Olive doctor will do a transvaginal ultrasound or sonogram to check out your ovarian reserve and the health of your ovaries. This procedure is known as an antral follicle count. It is performed by inserting an ultrasound probe internally, allowing your doctor to assess your ovarian reserve by counting the small sacs in the ovaries that contain the immature eggs.

Your Options

Your doctor will review your ovarian reserve and how many eggs you might expect to get after the course of your medication, as well as the options. These could include

  • Freezing your eggs
  • Getting pregnant now
  • Creating embryos to freeze
  • Using donor sperm
  • In some cases, using donor eggs

Creating Your Treatment Plan

Based on your goals and the outcome of your tests, you and your doctor will decide on your Treatment Plan. If you are going ahead with egg freezing at this time, your plan will include an orientation date, treatment schedule, specific medications and protocols, and what to expect as you begin treatment.

After you have had your initial appointment, you will meet with a patient financial advisor. They will work with you to help you understand the financial portion of your journey. The financial advisor will review the cost of your treatment and storage, as well as answering any questions you may have. Our aim is to provide you with all the information you will need to make this part of your treatment go as smoothly as possible.
